Are there certain fabrics that poison ivy can still sting you through?

No: All fabric is porous and the urushiol oil from poison ivy-like plants will seep through and cause skin reaction (no sting is involved). Using thick leather or rubber gloves will keep the urushiol oil from seeping through to your skin but touching the outside of the glove will cause the rash.
