Meralgia paresthetic: If the numbness involves the outer left thigh not going below the knee, you may have meralgia paresthetica (greek for numb or painful thigh) which is a stretch or compressed lateral femoral cutaneous nerve of the thigh which can be due to tight pants (such as hip hugger jeans), being overweight, pregnancy, or diabetes. Your doctor can check you and tell for sure.
