A member asked:

Can schizophrenia be temporarily or permanently induced?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Psychosis can: Schizophrenia is a lifelong illness, with many causes including genetics influenced by environmental factors. It cannot be "induced." however, psychosis, which is the loss of reality testing, and hearing things which are not there or seeing things which are not there, or becoming irrationally paranoid, can be "induced" by many different drugs or even some illnesses, and then can go away.
