Probably nothing bad: 3 days late is 'technically' not late. The definition of 'normal' menstrual intervals is 21-35 days. It is not unusual for someone in their mid-40s to experience some changes in their 'normal' menstrual length. If you continue to experience lengthening intervals, or if the next period if very heavy, some labs and sono may be useful to ensure nothing abnl going on.
