Seizures & DTs: Heavy drinkers (12pk or pt hard liquor per day or more) are at risk for alcohol withdrawal seizures after 24-72 hours--which is why most alcohol detox programs are 3 days long. Also can have delerium tremens--an alcohol withrawal induced brief period of psychosis that lasts days to weeks and is treated in the hospital. If planning to quit, which is great, do it with help of an alcohol detox progrm.
