Usually!: It is a good nsaid. If you have diabetic nephropathy, or hypertensive renal disease, then do not take it. Many diabetics are hypertensive, so if you take it, check blood pressure, and tell your doctor if it goes up. If you have heart failure, definitely do not take it! but it is very good at relieving pain. I have many diabetic patients on diclofenac!

The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
