Dr. Adam Hebb answered

Trigeminal Neuralgia: Pain in the face can be caused by nerve injury, irritation from infection or tumor, compression of the nerve by a blood vessel, or inflammation in the pathway for sensation in the brain. There are really many causes, and a careful examination may help shed some light.
