Medication approach: The classical approach is to use Dopamine agonists, such as requip, mirapex, and Neupro (rotigotine) patch, but prior use of l-dopa, and Clonazepam have helped. However, some pts may have abnormalities in iron metabolism, and if so, treatment of this problem may suffice.

Vein Treatment Poss.: Currently most RLS patients are being treated with various medications. However, recent studies have shown that venous insufficiency should be ruled out in all RLS patients before initiation or continuation of drug therapy. This is done through ultrasound imaging. If unhealthy veins are found, varicose vein therapy should be administered such as an endovenous laser ablation or sclerotherapy.
