Sedation: Both of these medicines can result in sedation, or sleepiness. Because of that, it would be best to take them separately. Oxycodone would be for extreme pain, and the valium would be for muscle spasm (it relaxes you and your back muscles). Ask your doctor how s/he wants you to take these medicines -- round the clock, as needed, etc.

Synergism: As a general rule you should always try a non-narcotic analgesic first (i.e. Advil) when experiencing pain, even if the doctor has prescribed a narcotic. Oxycodone is a potent narcotic with serious side effects. It is not advisable to take any narcotic together with valium. The effects of both exceed 24 hours and when taken together or with alcohol may be lethal. Keep these drugs away from view!

Separate: Oxycodone is a narcotic valium is a benzodiazepine (sedative). They both depress respiration. So depending on your health the dose of medication. I would probably take them an hour apart.
