Uncertain: Until recently, women were advised to supplement calcium to help prevent osteoporosis. However, recent studies have indicated increased cardiac risk in women who take calcium supplements, especially ones that are higher dose. Better to get your calcium from foods (dairy products, almonds, broccoli, figs, green leafy veggies) & do weight-bearing exercise.
