What causes poop to be black in color? is it because i just started taking iron pills?

Possibly: It can be related to this or to other reasons too. Did this begin after starting the supplement? Why were you told to take iron? Bleeding in the GI tract can sometimes cause black stools. This can often be determined by a simple stool test. Please speak to your doctor about this problem.
