IgM: It may be done as a general igm test to see if you are low. This is usually part of a more complete study. It may be done to see if you have an acute infection in which case it will be a part of a more complete test. I.E. Igm lyme.

Acute infection: The first antibody to respond to a new infection is igm. It will covert to an igg.
