Dilated vessels: Many blood vessels 'relax' and dilate due to pregnancy hormones or pressure. Some never go back to the way they were before pregnancy. Eg, note the number of women with varicose veins. With regard to hemorrhoids, experts suggest that, in general, people prepare food with lots of fiber, eat fresh produce, avoid 'straining' while on the toilet.

Dietary means: Increasing the amount of fiber in diet to levels greater than 25-30 gms daily, hydration, exercise, addition of stool softener daily, avoidance of marked straining during defecation, avoidance of reading while on the potty to decrease the time in that position. Going immediately to the potty with the urge, and not trying to hold it.
