What are the methods for diagnosing/ locating damage to vagus nerve? can it be repaired/ reactivated?

Vagus nerve: It would be very hard to injury the vagus without penetrating injury to the neck region - if this is the case the vagus nerve can be repaired if there has been a sharp injury to the nerve.

Variable: The vagus="the wandering nerve is one of two vagus nerves that are left anterior and right posterior along the esophagus in the chest to the stomach. If one is damaged there may be no signs. If both are damaged or surgically divided there are changes in gastric -stomach acid production and motility. But if cut high in the neck the recurrent laryngeal -voice nerves will be affected.
