What causes nape pain?

Neck pain can be due: To arthritis in cervical spine, nerve compression, muscle spasm in neck, upper back (trapezius), shoulders. Less common: infection (meningitis; sinusitis), tumor. See doc for evaluation, possible radiographs/mri, treatment.
