Depends: On which prostate surgery and which blood thinner. Many surgeons will operate on asprin. For laser prostate, some will operate on Plavix or lowered dose Coumadin (warfarin) if the surgery is urgent and you can't come off thinners safely. Most people can bridge to surgery , meaning use a short acting thinner for a week before surgery and then get back on their primary medicine right after surgery.

Sometimes: Traditional prostate surgeries cannot be performed while patients are on blood thinner, but this can be managed by switching to injectable form which can be turned off for surgery and turned on at an appropriate time and then restarting the oral medication. Laser vaporization of the prostate for BPH can be done on anti coagulated patients. There is an elevated bleeding risk in all scenarios.

Depends: Certainly radical prostatectomy or transurethral resection of prostate cannot really safely be performed on blood thinners. Some minimally invasive thermal procedures however can possibly be done without stopping blood thinners.
