The best test is an ultrasound of the gallbladder. If symptoms are present with a negative ultrasound a "hida" scan can be done. Symptoms usually get worse with time and once stones are proven surgery is the best treatment.

The onset of symptoms are usually associated with eating greasy, fried foods and or dairy products. If the symptoms increase in frequency linked to foods as above as ultrasound may identify stones.
