Anovulatory bleeding: If you had spotting around the 4th week of your current cycle it is most likely breakthrough--or anovulatory--bleeding. This would neither be evidence of a pregnancy, nor a normal period. Checking a pregnancy test, however, is always a good idea if there is any doubt.
