What does bridging during heart cath mean?

Let me explaIN: A myocardial bridge is a band of heart muscle that lies on top of a coronary artery, instead of underneath it. With a myocardial bridge, part of a coronary artery dips into and underneath the heart muscle and then comes back out again. The band of muscle that lies on top of the coronary artery is called a "bridge, " and this is how the condition gets its name.

Muscle bridge: Usually coronary arteries are on the surface of the heart but sometimes the coronary artery may tunnel into the heart muscle (myocardium), this is bridging. It is present in 3-5% of the population and many times a coincidental finding on cath. Depending on presenting symptoms and evidence of significant compression to the affected segment, doctors will determine if benign or not.
