Yes: You pretty much answered your own question. If you feel that your skin is very dry, you can use either cacao butter or crisco vegetable shortening to moisturize your skin. After a few days your skin should improve quite a bit. Both products will hold the moisture in. Good luck.

Change soap: Many soaps are very harsh & strip the oils from your skin. Water that's too hot makes it worse. Grease up w/plain petroleum jelly while your still wet. Try a gentle soap like these from copa. I just tried it & it helped me. http://www.copasoaps.com/.

You probably...: ....Have simple dry skin. Use a moisturizing soap, then cover yourself with moisturizing lotion the moment you get out of the shower and while you still have a bit of water on your skin. This should help you feel better. If it does not, or if your skin is scaly/flaky/rashy, then you may have something more happening that a doctor's prescription may help with.
