Yes: Birth control pills are often needed long term especially in women with pcos. However there is risk with any form of birth control such as blood clts and breast cancer when taken for an extended period like 15-20 yrs or more. But if stopped ax of pcos can return so risk vs benefit should be weighed for each individual.
