A member asked:

I have had sharp pains followed with swelling in my achilles' tendon for about a year now but the pain and swelling comes and goes what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Achilles tendonitis: Achilles tenodnitis is sometimes difficult to treat. By raising your heels(both) with a firm heel lift you can take some of the stress off the tendon which makes it feel better and may reduce the swelling. When it become less painful stretching the achilles tendon will help keep the problem from returning. Anti-inflamatories and ice are good also. Get medical attention if it does not get better.
