Strong Rx: When the diagnosis is made, first-line antimicrobial agents will be administered. The microbe responsible will be cultured, and its sensitivity to various antimicrobial agents tested. In today's era of resistant TB strains, one of the exotic new drugs may be required. If there is a huge pleural effusion, some of the fluid may need to be removed.
