Meds may help.: There are some meds that may help to provide an incresed muscle tone to the bladder. Get a second opinion.

Other options: I would not proceed to having a catheter placed. That leads to a lot more problems. An atonic bladder in a 20 yr old is pretty rare unless you have had a spinal injury or have another significant medical problem. Sometimes you can cause a bladder contraction by pushing hard on the bladder every 3 seconds 7-8 times in a row.
