Amoxicillin: The problem with sinusitis is accurate diagnosis. If the symptoms have been present for less than 10-14 days studies show that the chances of it being a viral illness is very high and antibiotics will not help at all. In acute sinusitis Amoxicillin would be first if not better in 36-48 hours may change to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (augmentin).
