Nobody knows: This is d-mannose, which binds to the hairs on bacteria that are meant to bind them to the bladder wall. Cranberry juice, a similar inhibitor, is scientifically established in prevention / treatment of bladder infections. There is some preliminary suggestive evidence that d-mannose can do the same -- we await some controlled studies.
