Unusual: Although hands often swell with various conditions, having the entire upper extremity swell is much less common than swelling in the legs. If routine check-ups have not shown anything you might consider a non-invasive doppler ultrasound test to see if blood flow is normal. Your primary care can order this or you can see a vascular specialist.
