Rest: Rest, plenty of fluids, tea with honey...And time. You can try over the counter tylenol (acetaminophen) or iburofen if you have no medical problems (use as directed on the box) othewise, discuss even these medicines with your doctor.

No one med is best: Each medication has its own benefits, and everyone responds differently. It also depends on what symptoms you’re looking to treat. For cough, there are over-the-counter products containing dextromethorphan or guaifenesin; antihistamines like chlorpheniramine help with runny noses and sneezing; acetaminophen with sore throat; and decongestants for nasal congestion.
