Bowel regimen: Long term your best solution to constipation is to use fiber, increased fluid intake, stool softeners, and laxatives, to achieve 2 soft bowel movements per day, no straining. Okay to check in with your doc about piles/hemorrhoids.

Surgery: Surgery by colo-rectal surgeon is safe. One can try medical management if piles are not too far gone. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily will help. Try to drink at least on ounce of water for every pound of body weight. Increase fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Decrease dairy products and other foods known to constipate you.
