Reassurance.: She has a disorder that causes her kidneys to lose potassium inappropriately in her urine. The mainstay of treatment is adequate potassium supplementation and use of medications that can help reduce the amount of potassium the kidneys lose. If her body potassium level can stay normal with treatment, she should do just fine. He kidney problem should not result in kidney failure.

Some types are associated with unusual facial features, sensorineural deafness, &/or strabismus (crossed eyes).
