Yes.: It's recommended to get the Depo-Provera shot within 5 days of starting your period - that way you are protected from pregnancy after 24 hours. However, if you got it outside of that window you probably had to have a pregnancy test confirming that you were not pregnant first. Then it's recommended to use condoms for about a week as backup.
