Variable issue: A prolapsing leaflet of the mitral valve can be found in as many as many as 15-20% of the general population. It is quite variable in it's expression with many never being recognized. More common in women, the regurgitation can be negligible or important.Your pcp should be able to better quantify it's importance in your case.
