PID treatment: Antibiotics must provide broad coverage for the likely causes (gonorrhoeae, chlamydia, anaerobes, gram-negatives and strep). Treatment can be in hospital with IV or as outpatient. In the us, if not sick enough to be in hospital then a single shot of Ceftriaxone plus pill form of Doxycycline are commonly used. Metronidazole is also often added. Close monitoring by your doctor is necessary.
