One minute: A pap test is done as part of a routine gynecologic exam. The exam takes longer, but once the doctor is doing a vaginal exam the pap portion takes less than a minute, which involves just a gentle scraping of the inside of the cervix. It can sometimes take a few days to get the results however because it needs to be sent to a pathologist, who will read it and then report back.
