An expert: Moodswings during pregnancy are common, but if they are strong enough for you ask, it's a good idea to ask your OB for a referral to a psychiatrist. Why? Because mood swings during pregnancy are associated with a higher risk of true post-partum depression after she gives birth. There's no guarantee of this, of course, but important to watch fir and be prepared fir in advance.

Be supportive: The best thing you can do is be supportive. These are temporary changes due to hormones and you can't alter that. Understand they are temporary and it's not her fault.

Well, it depends on: The situation, incl history.One excellent med is called mirtazapine. 1/2 of 30 mg tablet prior to sleep helps insomnia, nausea, stress and mood. See mass general women's psychiatry website. It blocks a seratonin receptor 5ht-3 where zofran (ondansetron) works, blocks 5ht2c which helps sleep ANS is a good basic med, look up, bring info to OB doc, they won't know about it, just sayin', it may take a week or 2.
