Yes: Any form of hormonal birth control could possibly cause breast tenderness: birth control pills, Depo-Provera shots, vaginal ring, etc. Mirena is a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system, so because it has hormone in it, the breasts may respond with tenderness. The good news is that the longer you have it in, the more you get used to it, and the more likely your breast tenderness will go away.
