Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen is usually an excellent over the counter pain killer for tooth related pain. It's generally preferred over tylenol (acetaminophen). Only take it if it is safe for you to take. The pain may not be due to the tooth. You may consider calling your dr for a pain prescription to alleviate the pain until you can see them. Don't hesitated to see a professional right away if you develop any swelling. Good luck!

Could not be: Either I am not understanding the question correctly or ... The decay in the molar cannot cause the pain in the neck unless you are in so much pain everywhere. Does the tooth hurt? See a dentist pronto . Meanwhile 600 or 800mg of Ibuprofen should help.

Serious: This actually sounds pretty serious. Anytime you have pain in your neck from a tooth, it can potentially be infection. If you have trouble swallowing or breathing head to the er. If the pain is more shocking and nervy then go find some oil of clove from a local herb shop and drown a q-tip in it and place it right in the area of the cavity. I hope you can make it soon to the dentist!
