MRI terminology: No. Grading meniscal tear degeneration is a radiographic terminology. It indicates that you have "signal" in the back of your meniscus on a presumed MRI but no signs of penetration to the articular surface which would indicate a tear (grade 3 change). Equivalent to a twinkie. It has a creamy filling but not torn. We don't go cutting thru normal tissue to find this. Could lead to eventual tear.

Unlikely: Meniscus tears will not heal, but they may not be symptomatic. A lot depends on your symptoms and physical exam.
