Cause of Neck Lump: Causes of lumps on the back of then neck or nape are several. The most common cause i see are sebaceous cysts. Also lymph nodes related to local inflammation like acne, insect bites and less likely, cancer. Any persistent new lump or one that is growing should be examined by a physician in case it reflects a more serious underlying disease.
