Hard to yawn: Any process that makes the chest wall stiff or make it hard to move air in and out of the chest. Pulmonary fibrosis restricts motion, emphsema, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive lung disease, sarcoidosis, previous lung surgery, can make it hard to take a deep breath. One of the most common is the restricted breathing of obesity, as well as lack of exercise. Smoking makes all of these worse.
