Usually not: A fibroadenoma is benign by definition, and soreness is also not associated with cancer, so that if your description is accurate there is no need to remove it. The increased size is of some concern and you might need a needle biopsy to confirm the diagnosis if that has not been done. Cutting back on caffeine--coffee, sodas, chocolate--may help with the soreness.
