Probably not ankle: I would advise you to have the hip looked at soon. "severe pain" should not be occurring, and given that it is severe, I do not believe your ankle as much to do with the problem (if anything). If your ankle hurts or is causing you to limp a lot, then it could be a factor. Bottom line - rule out a major problem at your hip level first, and don't wait.

See your surgeon: There may be a problem with your hip replacement. Loosening of the prosthesis, infection and stress fractures can all cause severe pain at 7 months out. Hopefully is just a soft tissue/muscle problem that could resolve with time and physical therapy.
