Needs to be seen: What you describe is unusual. I would suggest that you see a general dentist or an oral surgeon who can actually see what you are describing and give you an accurate answer to your question. Merely giving you a list of possibilities will not be helpful to you. Smoking is known to cause cancer, so hopefully you have stopped.
