A member asked:

Is there treatmennt of retenitis pigmentosa?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not yet: This is an inherited failure of the light receptors to thrive - they instead gradually degenerate and lose function . There are many types with variable effects from visual handicap to almost complete blindness. No treatment is known to help. The fda has just approved an implantable device which can give some degree of visual input. It is crazy expensive - $100, 000 plus the cost of surgery.
