Symptoms; tests: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is usually first noticed when the patient has difficulty seeing at night or loses a significant part of the field of vision. On examination there are characteristic appearances to the retina, and there is test called an ERG which gives the absolute diagnosis. Sometimes other cases are in the family.
