Soft nails: Nails break because they are soft. It can be associated with low thyroid or poor nutritional state. If blood tests are ok it can be treated on the outside with dermanial or genedur. Internal vitamins with high biotin levels and silica can be helpful. Oral digestive enzymes taken 3-4 with a meal work to strengthen nails due to poor nutrition.

Not sure: Crumbling or brittle nails can occur due to lengthy contact with nail polish, detergents, chemicals, water. Other possible causes: fungal infections, lichen planus, nail psoriasis, & thryoid problems. Wearing gloves when hands have excessive water exposure or use of topical moisturizer can help. In some case - a medical workup is indicated.
