Specialist can help: With 3rd degree burns, a plastic surgeon or a burn specialist should be helping with the care. The skin in a 3rd degree burn got cooked and is dead, so the scarring needs to be cared for by the specialist. Skin grafting may be needed. With 2nd degree burns, the skin under the blister is alive and trying to heal. A popped or unpopped blister should both heal ok, if kept free of infection.
