A member asked:

If a person had chlamdia refrained from sex but never took any antibiotics. would it go away on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Chlamydia can cause serious complications. An untreated person may have no symptoms, but he or she remains contagious and at risk for these complications until treated. The treatment is simple: just a single one gram dose of an antibiotic called azithromycin. If you can't afford to see a private doc, your local public health department may offer free or low cost treatment.
