No: You should not take Cipro (ciprofloxacin) with dairy products alone (such as milk or yogurt) or with calcium-fortified juices (such as orange juice). However, you can take Cipro (ciprofloxacin) with meals that contain these food items. Calcium can bind to Cipro (ciprofloxacin) in the digestive tract, preventing it from being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Agree and...: Don’t have calcium 6 hours before a Cipro (ciprofloxacin) dose or 2 hours after taking the medicine why the different time frames? Calcium can sit around a long time waiting to trap the antibiotic—almost 6 hours at worst. With a clear path though, the antibiotic will absorb by 2 hours and the coast is clear to ingest—safely-- any future calcium after 2 hours. Bit complicated, huh?
