Tell the prescriber: There are some patients who develope tolerance to psychostimulants, increasing their dosage when the beneficial effect begins to wane. It can become a vicious cycle, leading to excessive dosing. An article on the front page of the 2/3/2013 sunday new york times gives one young man's story: he ended up dying. You should definitely consult an expert.

Be honest: Tell your prescribing dr and he will help you by replacing it, tapering off or send you to a multidisciplinary team to make a treatment plan that fits, in general. A good psychiatrist would not be judgmental about this.
